Mushroom Mines - Environment Design

“Mushroom Mines” is the end result of a test I took to enter Tumultuous Productions and work on Yami. The test consisted of getting two tilesets made available to me and creating a level out of them. The assets were completely black and white. Animations, color and lighting were created by me inside Unity. The main goal of this test is to show my skills of level composition and visual communication. No character or control scripts were made available to me, meaning the level was not built around a character’s mechanics. The only script I coded myself was to control the camera of the video.

The idea behind this level is of a mining facility set inside a snowy mountain. The level starts on the outdoors where you can find a few abandoned crates. When you reach the bottom there is a dining room where the miners would have a meal and chat for a bit. The production is split between green mushrooms and purple mushrooms, you can find the entire production path for each of them: from collection, separation, registering, transportation and storage in houses above the mines.
